“Lifting the Heart” with Caron Murray
How backbends lift the heart physically and emotionally
Saturday, June 6th 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
In this workshop we’ll consider the effect of backbends on the physical body and how that can improve mood and emotional health. We’ll use our arms and legs to lift the heart, open the lungs and reverse hunching of the upper back and shoulders, exploring how posture relates to mood. We will also consider the use of breath to aid in lengthening and extending the spine.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels but some familiarity with the Iyengar method is helpful. We will practice inversions but those can be modified with the use of props as necessary.
