Ancient yogic philosophical writings offer so much wisdom for our lives today. It always blows my mind that despite how different life was in those times, humans struggled with the same challenges we do today.
As we become increasingly isolated not just due to the current pandemic but also due to modern society, it is more important than ever to remember that we all share similar struggles, fears, and insecurities.
Amazingly, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, written about 2,000 years ago, offers practical guidance for our everyday lives. What I’ve learned from this book informs my choices every single day and my life is much better for it. The language is compact, the concepts rich with wisdom. Svadhyaya Bookclub is a place where we can explore these ideas together and most importantly, see how to put them to use to experience a more graceful, blessed life.
How to participate~
Each month we read a few recommended chapters from the assigned “inspired” text, along with a few related verses from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. To jumpstart the conversation, I’ll post a blog article that highlights a few ideas from the readings that I find helpful in my life.
***This is on hold. If you would like to be notified of future events,
please email Kim at edenyoganh@gmail.com***
- In-person: We’ll meet outside. Bring a lawn chair and beverage and we’ll chat. I can’t wait to see where our conversations lead us!
- Over Zoom: I’ll bring a laptop to our outdoor get-togethers so those who can’t be there in person can also join the conversation.
- Online: At the bottom of every blog article is a comments section. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Every meeting we will be referring to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. There are many translations. Use B.K.S. Iyengar’s or whichever version you like.
